A rave was cancelled following a violent disturbance in south east London yesterday (April 14) – with a man smashing up cars and threatening bystanders.

A man was reportedly seen damaging cars with a baseball bat on Elephant Road at around 1.52pm.

At 2.15pm, calls came in about the same man threatening members of the public in Kennington Park.

The Joyride rave at Corsica Studios on Elephant Road was cancelled after concerns for safety following the incident.

Joyride said via a statement on Instagram that it was forced to cancel the event due to a “violent” person, with “the threat too high for today's event”.

No injuries were reported and there have been no arrests.

Police continue their search for the individual.

Officials advised anyone who sees him or has any further information to contact 101 or @MetCC quoting reference number CAD 3518/14 Apr.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 1.52pm on Sunday, 14 April to Elephant Road, after a man was reported to have damaged cars with a baseball bat.

“A further call was received at 2.15pm about a man - believed to be the same man - threatening people in Kennington Park.

“There have been no reports of any injuries.

“There have been no arrests as yet. Police are searching for the man.

“If seen call 101 or post @MetCC ref CAD 3518/14 Apr.”
