SAINTS coach Paul Wellens has given an update on a trio of injured players ahead of the Good Friday game.

He is hopeful that Morgan Knowles, who came off with an arm injury at Leeds, will play in the Super League clash at home to Wigan.

And he explained that Tommy Makinson and Lewis Dodd will both train tomorrow and checked afterwards.

Wellens said: "We are hoping Morgan Knowles is going to be OK. He was saying the weekend he could go back on.

"There's no definitive fracture or anything with his arm or anything like that.

"So it's just whether he can manage the pain. Morgan's a tough lad, so he'll do all he can.

"So hopefully they'll be OK, but we'll have to see obviously closer to the back end of the week."

Saints were without Dodd (groin) and Makinson (hamstring) at Leeds but both will train tomorrow and then then be assessed how after that session.

Wellens said: "We are going to have to be sensible there, though obviously this is a huge game and it's a game that all the players want to play in.

"But what I don't want to do with players is take an unnecessary risk and then you have players sat on the sidelines for five to six weeks.

"So whilst we have to make tough decisions, we also have to make smart decisions.

"So hopefully, all being well and they come through the sessions, they’ll be in contention to play. But if not, someone else gets the opportunity."

Saints welcome back Mark Percival from suspension.

But they will be without suspended James Bell who has picked up a one-match ban.
