An estate agent has shed some light on the trends shaping the property market in Bexley, including the most sought-after streets to live on across the borough.

Bexley borough is appealing to first-time buyers drawn by its accessible entry into the property ladder and families enticed by its renowned schools, shopping options, strong community and transport links to London and beyond.

Carl Arnold, a branch manager at Anthony Martin estate agents said: “With the market seemingly going in the right direction from the higher interest rates and record high inflation in 2023, 2024 seems to be a lot more positive with consumer confidence coming back to the market.

“Bexley Borough has always seen a lot of first-time buyers come into the area because it is affordable to get on to the property ladder but also we have seen a lot of families move here because of the well-regarded schools that are here a long with an array of shops for all of your needs but also because of the transport links that are here especially in and out of London.”

Carl shared his thoughts on the most popular streets in the Bexley borough, along with some insight into what makes these locations so appealing.

Here is his list:

  • Danson Road, Bexleyheath

Danson Road, situated on the south side of Bexleyheath, stands tall among its peers with some of the area's most grandiose and impeccably designed homes.

What sets this road apart is not just the architectural marvels it hosts, but also Danson Park which sits on the same road.

With its picturesque lake, children's play area, and a quaint restaurant – Carl explains that Danson Park recreational spot but a sanctuary for residents.

The regal Danson House, a Grade one listed building, adds a touch of historical significance to the area, having been graced by the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth 2nd herself in its reopening ceremony back in July 2005.

  • Wansunt Road, Bexley:

Wansunt Road in Bexley is another site of luxury in Bexley. Its popularity among locals is hardly surprising, considering the variety of detached, spacious properties that adorn its landscape.

Carl said: “Our very own 007 (Roger Moore) lived with his second wife on this road. If it’s good enough for 007 it’s certainly good enough for me.”

  • Priestlands Park Road, Sidcup:

Moving over to Sidcup, Carl explains that Priestlands Park Road emerges as the most sought-after road in the Christchurch Conservation area.

It is a prime location just half a mile away from Sidcup Train Station. With reputable schools in close proximity, it's no wonder that Priestlands Park Road is a top pick for buyers.

Carl adds that “there are a number of semi-detached and detached properties that have an abundance of style and character about them”.

  • Park Crescent, Erith:

Erith's Park Crescent has an undeniable charm, with its tree-lined boulevards and a diverse array of homes spanning different architectural eras “ranging from one-bedroom conversion flats to large Victorian detached houses”.

The road is located within easy walking distance of Erith Train Station, Northumberland Heath Shops and local schools.

  • Parkside Avenue, Barnehurst:

Carl explains that for those eyeing their first step on the property ladder, Parkside Avenue in Barnehurst presents an enticing opportunity. Built circa 1930, the homes on this road offer affordability without compromising on quality.

He added: “Many of the houses on this road are two/three bedrooms and will range from £325,000 - £400,000.

“There are a number of good Infant/Junior schools locally, they include Barnehurst Infant & Junior School, the very sought-after Bursted Woods School, Pelham School and Mayplace Primary School. Both Barnehurst and Slade Green Train Station are within a short walking distance.”

  • Up and coming location -The Quarry, Erith:

Looking to the future, the Quarry in Erith emerges as an up-and-coming gem. Situated on a disused quarry site, this new development promises a blend of modern living and environmental sustainability and there will be a collection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes released across several phases.

Carl said: “The development features a new on-site Sainsburys and primary school, it will include new open spaces, community facilities, and the preservation of ecological areas that compliment the existing landscape.”
