Plans for the demolition of dog kennels in Bexley to make way for new four-bedroom family homes have been submitted to the council.

The Birchwood Boarding Kennels, which currently houses 44 dogs and other animals, would be replaced by five two-storey detached homes with parking.

Located off Tile Kiln Lane, the kennels are surrounded by residential area and greenlands.

Currently, the site consists of two residential dwellings alongside six kennel buildings and three other outbuildings.

The proposed plan is to replace these kennels with five family homes.

The properties, designed to reflect the size and style of the surrounding houses, will each feature four bedrooms, a family bathroom, a separate lounge with an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, a utility room, and a downstairs toilet.

The master bedroom will include an ensuite bathroom.

Each house will have two parking spaces, located to the right of the properties.

With a total of ten proposed parking spaces on the new development, the planning documents said the site "will not place any additional parking stress upon the local highway network".

The plans also include a bin store will be located halfway up the private access drive to the site.

Despite being on Green Belt land, areas that aims to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land open, the planning documents argue that the sprawl of development will be reduced as the site is already used by a business.

The documents from ET Planning Ltd. also said that the removal of the kennels will benefit future and current residents by eliminating noise issues.

The location of the site is said to be near public transport and necessary amenities for future residents.
