Eight busy streets in Bromley could be shut for 18 months for gas repair works.

Bromley Council has issued a notice to inform that SGN will be conducting gas main connection works across eight roads in Bromley, including:

1. Church Row, Chislehurst

2. Downe Avenue, Cudham

3. Gundulph Road, Bromley

4. Hayes Lane, Beckenham

5. Homesdale Road, Bromley

6. School Road, Chislehurst

7. Warren Road, Chelsfield

8. Wickham Way, Beckenham

This order started on Monday (March 11) and there's no set end date but it could last for up to 18 months.

During this time, no vehicles are allowed to wait in any street specified in the schedule or any adjacent street until the completion of the works.

Vehicles found waiting in violation of this restriction may be removed.

No vehicles are permitted to proceed in any street specified in the Schedule or any adjacent street until the works are completed.

During the works' duration, vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in any street specified in the Schedule or any adjacent street in a direction contrary to that indicated by traffic signs.

The restrictions mentioned will only be in place when signs are displayed.

The council will try to maintain access to properties from either side of the closure where possible.

Emergency access routes will always be available.

The Order doesn't affect vehicles used for the works, police officer in uniform or a Traffic Wardens.
