The death of a man whose body was found in a river in Crayford is being treated as not suspicious.

The discovery was made by police in the River Cray near Crayford Way just before 10.45am on March 3.

Police have said that the man was in his 60s and that his family have been informed of his death.

His death is now being treated as not suspicious by police and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “We were called at 10:44hrs on Sunday, 3 March to reports that a body had been found in the River Cray, near to Crayford Way in Crayford.

“Officers responded along with the Met's Marine Policing Unit.

“The body of a man in his 60s was recovered from the water.

“The man's next of kin have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.54am on Sunday 3 March to reports of a person in the water at Crayford Way, Crayford.

“We sent a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene.

“Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
