Police have issued an update on the condition of a man who was stabbed during a fight in Orpington.

The fight, between two men, happened in Star Lane just before 4.20am on February 26.

Officers were called to the scene and found one of the men with stab injuries to his chest.

He was treated at the scene before initially being taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

His injuries are believed to be self-inflicted.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed today (March 3) his condition is now understood to be stable.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

The full statement from Metropolitan Police says: “At approximately 04:16hrs on Monday, 26 February, police were called to Star Lane, Orpington, BR5 to reports of two men fighting.

“When officers arrived one man was lying on the ground with stab injuries to his chest. These are believed to be self-inflicted.

“He was treated at the scene and has since been taken to hospital. His condition is understood to be stable.

“There has been no arrest.”
