I ate at a stunning restaurant in central London with a new dessert completely inspired by grapefruits sourced from Florida.
Located within the food hotspot of Eccleston Yard in Belgravia, Wild By Tart offers a relaxed bar, restaurant, retail store and events space set in what was once a former power station and coal store.
A far cry from its former use, the space has been transformed into a modern and stylish eating space, with plants and flowers and a scattering of comfy seating and a bar as you first walk in.
The restaurant was first launched in 2019 by culinary duo Lucy Carr-Ellison and Jemima Jones, who have catered for brands like Versace and Chanel.
The restaurant offers a sharing style menu using seasonal ingredients that tend to change on a monthly basis.
This month’s focus is centred around Florida Grapefruit, featuring a limited edition dessert dish which will be running until March 12.
I was invited to try a range of dishes that champion the versatility of this fruit and how it can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes with its tangy, sharp taste.
I began by sampling a Paloma made with grapefruit and a shot of tequila, topped with a decorative grapefruit.
The menu featured a range of dishes to highlight the different ways grapefruit can be incorporated, from being used with fish to give it a sharper taste, to an accompaniment with pork to bring out the sweet flavours of the meat.
The dessert, which is currently part of the menu up until March 12, is a Florida Grapefruit Posset with grapefruit jelly with and fennel milk meringue.
The dish was a mix of textures, with the smoothness of the jelly and the crunch of the meringue, bringing a sharp flavour with the grapefruit mixed with a slight creaminess.
Wild By Tart offers changing seasonal menus along with a range of Wild Inspired Cocktails, and being located within a five-minute walk of Victoria it makes for a great spot to try for anyone who loves food inspired by nature.
