A popular free festival with music performances, talks and street food is coming to south east London in May.

Kicking off the festival season, Urban Village Fete is set to return to Greenwich Peninsula on May 19, offering visitors a chance to experience the festival with riverside views of London.

The event offers an “alternative and contemporary” take on the traditional summer fete and is hailed to be one of the “largest free festivals anywhere.”

This year the riverside festival will host a number of headline DJs and music mixes ranging from RnB to jazz, with the headliners set to be announced prior to the event.

There will also be workshops and interactive events for all the family, as well as circus-themed dog training for your furry companions.

For foodies, the event will also host a range of street food vendors with cuisine from around the world to try.

The event, which has a huge emphasis on music, art and design, will also host a range of talks and speakers’ sessions.

Further information on this year's headliners will be announced in the lead-up to the festival this spring.
