If you are still stuck for first date ideas ahead of Valentine's Day tomorrow, take some inspiration from south east Londoners - who suggest a romantic evening at "Mcdonald's".

Some quirky date suggestions have surfaced on Facebook after we asked readers 'where is the best place for a first date in south east London?'.

It turns out south east Londoners like to treat their dates to a "McDonald's", followed by a visit to "Wetherspoons".

Imagine sharing a Big Mac as a sign of your blossoming affection, or maybe discussing art and politics over a pint at your local 'spoons.

Another very British suggestion comes from Terry Goldsmith, who recommends the "Manzies Pie & Mash shop" in Deptford for a romantic dinner.

Or dare to be different with Maria Rose's proposal: a "picnic in Woolwich square".

And they say romance is dead.

As for a more typical date, another south east Londoner, Andrew Pledger, suggests "a nice walk in Greenwich Park followed by a meal".

Or, for the sports enthusiasts, Patricia Ashwood recommends Selhurst Park to "watch a game of footie".

However, if classic dates aren’t appealing, why not take Linda Adams’ suggestion and go somewhere with "two sets of doors in case you need to get out quick if it's not going well".

For some other date ideas, where you will hopefully not have to "get out quick", the News Shopper has got you covered.

If you are looking for a Valentine's date with breath-taking views, the IFS Cloud Cable Car ride that travels from Greenwich Peninsula to Royal Docks provides an unforgettable experience.

Complete with landmarks such as The O2, Canary Wharf, and Paul's Cathedral to be seen, it promises to be a date to remember.

On the other hand, the 120-minute workshop at Gootopia in Lewisham Shopping Centre where you can drink and make slime could be a unique night.

For a more luxurious touch, think about dining at Chapter One, one of OpenTable’s Top 100 Romantic Restaurants of 2023, found in Orpington.

Last but not least, you could enjoy a cozy winter afternoon tea at Ruxley Manor Garden Centre in Sidcup, Kent.

Clearly, whatever your taste, South East London isn't short on date inspiration.
