Two people have taken to hospital after a crash in Plumstead.

The incident between a pedestrian and a car happened in Plumstead Common Road shortly after 8am today (February 1).

Officers, London Ambulance Service crews, and an air ambulance attended and found two people injured.

They were taken to both hospital for treatment where their conditions are currently unknown.

Plumstead Common Road remains cordoned off by police following the incident.

Bus routes 51, 53, 386, and 658 are also on diversion, according to AA maps.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called shortly after 08:00hrs on Thursday, 1 February to reports of a car in collision with a pedestrian on Plumstead Common Road, SE18.

"Emergency services attended.

"A man has been taken to hospital for treatment. We await an update on his condition.

"Enquiries continue."

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called today (1 February) at 8:03am to reports of a road traffic collision on Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead.

“We sent some resources to the scene, including an incident response officer and an ambulance crew.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated two people at the scene, before taking them to hospital.”

Full AA maps statement: “Road closed and delays due to crash on Plumstead Common Road both ways between Burrage Road and Nightingale Place. Detour in operation - for buses 51, 53, 386 and 658.

"Since 08:00, closed now for recovery."
