A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after a fight near a supermarket in Belvedere.

The incident happened outside Asda in Lower Road just after 4pm yesterday (January 21).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man with injuries to his leg and head.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance. 

He remains in custody as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Met officers have arrested a man after being called to reports of a fight in Belvedere. 

“We were called at 16:08hrs on Sunday, 21 January after a man was injured following a fight outside a supermarket in Lower Road.

“The man in his 40s was taken to hospital with injuries to his leg and head. His condition was not life-threatening. 

“A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. 

“He remains in custody and the investigation continues. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4763/21Jan.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called yesterday (21 January) at 4:16pm to reports of an incident on Lower Road, Belvedere.

“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.

“We treated a man before taking him to hospital.”
