The chef of an Eltham restaurant has been named as a finalist for Chef of the Year by the British Kebab awards.

Tansu Ozsoykal is a chef at Rox Restaurant on Eltham High Street.

Rox Restaurant describes itself as a “modern restaurant with traditional values”.

The eatery offers cuisine influenced by the family who founded it, who derive from Turkey.

On its website, it says: “Our Ethos has always been to serve the best quality produce available with a warm welcoming service.

“Our experience over the last 20 years has proven to us that this method is what separates us from the rest.”

They add: “Turkish cuisine is largely from the heritage of Ottoman cuisine, which can be described as a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cuisines.

“We have depicted the traditional formulas that our ancestors have used to create bursts of infusion in our dishes.

“The Rox family have been in the catering industry for over 20 years, so all our guests have to do is just sit back and enjoy the Rox experience.”

This year marks the 12th awards ceremony with 17 finalists named in south London across 10 categories with 8 of those finalists in south east London.

The menu at Rox Restaurant is varied, offering small plates, burgers, dishes “from the sea”, dishes “from the land”, steaks and of course, chef specials.

The British Kebab Awards are run in association with Just Eat and aim to “recognise and champion the efforts of local kebab takeaways and restaurants across the nation”.
