A man who has now been charged with attempted murder was arrested four days after a woman was stabbed in Bexley

Tony Curant, who lives on Penhill Road where the incident took place, was arrested on January 20.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court today charged with attempted murder.

Curant was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on February 5.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was stabbed in Penhill Road just after 4pm on January 16.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition as of today (January 22).

Inspector Graham Rickard, from the policing team for south east London, said: “We arrived at the scene within three minutes of the initial report and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. 

"Sadly, she is very seriously injured and has been taken to hospital in a critical condition."

Inspector Rickard previously said it was believed that the woman and her alleged attacker were known to each other.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A man has appeared at court charged with attempted murder.

“Tony Curant, 33 (22.10.90) of Penhill Road, appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court this morning and was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 5 February.

“Curant was arrested on Saturday, 20 January following a stabbing on Penhill Road in Bexley on Tuesday, 16 January.

“The victim, a woman in her 30s, remains in hospital in a critical condition.”
