Three people and two dogs have been rescued from an Orpington house fire.

London Fire Brigade was called to Hilda Vale Road in Orpington yesterday (Sunday, January 7) at 3.40am.

Fire crews rescued the dogs and people from a first floor window with a ladder.

The blaze was under control by 4.42am.

Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Orpington and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters were called to a house fire on Hilda Vale Road in Orpington on Sunday.

“Part of the ground floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire.

“Firefighters rescued two women and a man from a first floor window via a ladder.

“They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

“Two dogs were also rescued from a first floor window.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers gave vital fire survival guidance to those inside the building on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.

“The Brigade was called at 0340 and the fire was under control by 0442.

“Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Orpington and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.”
