Some Southeastern trains have been cancelled due to a landslip overnight.

Disruption is expected until around 6pm today (Friday, January 5) as a team are onsite working to make the railway safe.

If your train is delayed by over 15 minutes, you can claim delay repay with Southeastern Rail.

From 7.45am onwards, there will be changes to the Southeastern timetable as the incident is dealt with.

A Southeastern spokesperson said: “Teams of engineers are on site working to make the railway safe at Robertsbridge, after safety systems triggered an alarm of a landslip in the embankment overnight.

“After 7.45am NO TRAINS will run between Battle – Tunbridge Wells.

“Disruption is expected until at least 6pm.

“You can use your tickets on the following routes at no extra cost:

  • Southern Rail services between Hastings and Ashford.
  • Southeastern services between Ashford and London – including high speed services.

According to National Rail, a landslip happens on the railway when soil, rocks and earth fall on to the track and cover it.

This is often after long periods of heavy rain, when the ground become saturated with water.
