A major emergency services presence has been pictured at the scene of a stabbing in Erith.

The incident happened in Alexandra Road just before 1.15pm yesterday (January 3).

Officers, London Ambulance Service crews and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

Two ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic also attended.

The two injured – believed to be men aged in their 30s – were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

Their conditions were later assessed as life-threatening.

Alexandra Road can be seen partially cordoned off by police officers in pictures as the incident is dealt with.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.

We have asked the Metropolitan Police for further updates on the incident.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Two people are in a life threatening condition following an incident in Alexandra Road, Erith on Wednesday, 3 January.

“Police were called to the scene at 13.12hrs alongside medics from LAS.

“Those injured – believed to be men aged in their 30s – were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

“No arrests have been made at this time, but urgent enquiries are taking place to locate the suspect[s].

“The scene will remain in place and officers will be in the area.

“Anyone with information, or phone /dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD3070 /03JAN. You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.”

A spokesperson London Ambulance Service said: “We were called January 3 at 1:08pm to reports of a stabbing on Alexandra Road, Erith.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including two ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic.

"We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated two people at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre.”
