Three men have been arrested after a suspected stolen vehicle was stopped on the A2 London-bound.

At around 2.30pm on Monday, January 1, a vehicle suspected to be stolen “attempted to make off” from Kent Police before being stopped on the A2 Watling Street, near the junction with Wrotham Road.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of the theft of a motor vehicle and have been taken into custody while further enquiries are carried out.

Multiple other vehicles were damaged as the car tried to pass traffic.

The carriageway was closed while the men were detained and the incident was dealt with.

No injuries were reported and the road has since reopened.

Police ask that anyone with dashcam footage which could assist investigators call 01474 366149 quoting 01-0459.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “At around 2.30pm on Monday 1 January 2024, a vehicle suspected to be stolen attempted to make off from officers before being stopped on the London-bound A2 Watling Street, near the junction with Wrotham Road.

“Three men were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have been taken into custody while further enquiries are carried out.

“A number of other vehicles were damaged as the car attempted to pass traffic and the carriageway was closed while the men were detained and the incident responded to.

“No injuries have been reported and the road has since reopened.

“Anyone with dashcam footage which may assist investigators is urged to call 01474 366149, quoting 01-0459.”
