A police investigation is underway after reports of gunshots being heard in a street in Woolwich.
Gunshots were allegedly heard in Mulgrave Road in Woolwich yesterday (December 27) at around 7:30pm.
Police arrived at the scene and conducted a search, but no suspects were identified and no injuries were reported.
A crime scene is currently in place whilst police investigations continue.
A Section 60 AA was issued until 7am today (December 28) giving police additional stop and search powers.
This means police can demand a person removes a face mask or clothing that hides their identity.
Anyone with information should contact Metropolitan Police on 101 quoting the reference CAD 5134/27Dec.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 19:30hrs on Wednesday, 27 December to reports of gunshots heard in Mulgrave Road, SE18.
“Officers responded and carried out a search of the area. There were no reported injuries and no suspects were identified.
“An investigation is under way and a crime scene remains in place while further enquiries are carried out.
“Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 5134/27Dec.
“To prevent further violence a Section 60 AA has been authorised in the area until 07:00hrs on Thursday, 28 December.
“This gives officers additional stop and search powers and means they can demand a person removes a face mask or other clothing that conceals their identity.”
