London Ambulance Service has issued an update after a woman was stabbed to death on Christmas Eve in Bermondsey.

London Ambulance Service were called along with police at around 10pm on Sunday, December 24 to a woman who had been stabbed at a home on Spenlow Close in Jamaica Road.

The woman died at the scene and her family have been informed.

An ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer attended the scene.

A trauma team in car from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched.

London Ambulance Service confirmed that the first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes.

A 16-year-old boy, who is known to the victim, was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder a short time later.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday, December 26.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10pm on 24 December to reports of a stabbing in Jamaica Road, Bermondsey.

“We sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes.

“Despite the extensive efforts to save him, the patient sadly died at the scene.”
