CHILDREN have spent a day playing the drums to raise money for new percussion instruments at their school.
Pupils at Thomas Tallis School, Kidbrooke Park Road, Blackheath, raised £500 in sponsorship money for a new set of drums and cymbals.
Music teacher Sean Kane organised the event, which saw 30 pupils taking part.
Mr Kane said: "The drums are always in need of maintenance and we were sick and tired of not having the funds to buy new equipment, so we decided to raise the money ourselves.
"I think we easily raised our target amount.
"The children loved it and the school is thinking of doing more events like this."
