A car has been seized from a disqualified driver after he parked on a double yellow line and littered in Greenwich.

Officers saw a white car parked up in Greenwich on October 30.

Police say the male in the car had thrown litter out of the window which caught police attention.

The male had then reportedly left the vehicle and walked off.

Officers found this “suspicious”, so they ran checks on the car.

Police found that the named driver on the insurance was wanted.

CCTV was requested to monitor the car if the male returned; the male came back but allegedly denied being the wanted person.

Police carried out checks on the male and no license or insurance was found.

According to police, the male stated his mum parked the car and was left in the passenger seat.

After further checks, it turned out that the male was a disqualified driver, and his car was seized.

Greenwich MPS said: “The driver of this vehicle attracted the attention of #Greenwich Officers by parking on a double yellow line and littering.

“After vehicle checks, turns out the driver was in fact disqualified from driving and with no insurance.

“On 30th October, officers had seen the white vehicle parked up.

“The male in the car had thrown litter out the window attracting police attention.

“The male had then left the vehicle and walked off.

“Officers found this suspicious so run checks on the vehicle.

“It had transpired that the named driver on the insurance was currently wanted.

“CCTV was requested to monitor the vehicle if the male returned, the male came back but denied being the wanted person.

“Checks on the male were carried out and no license or insurance was found.

“The male stated his mother parked the car and was left in the passenger seat, after further checks it had turned out the male was a disqualified driver, and his vehicle was seized under Section 165 Road Traffic Act.”
