The rider of a motorbike fled the scene following a crash that has left a pedestrian in a life-threatening condition.

Police were called to Maxey Road at around 10pm on Wednesday, October 18 to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a motorbike.

Emergency service were at the scene and the pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

She is currently in a life-threatening condition and her next of kin are aware.

The rider of the motorbike fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

There have been no arrests and enquiries are ongoing.

Police ask that anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 285 1574 quoting CAD 7607/9NOV.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly after 22:00hrs on Wednesday, October 18 to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian at Maxey Road, SE18.

“Emergency services attended.

“The pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by LAS where she remains in a life threatening condition.

“Her next of kin are aware.

“The rider of the motorbike left the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

“There were no arrests.

“Road closures and diversions remain in place while enquiries continue.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 285 1574 quoting CAD 7607/9NOV.
