Brasserie of Light in Selfridges is one of my favourite restaurants for a treat at the best of times, and especially when it’s collaborating with vodka brand Grey Goose and it’s desserts are a spectacle.

At the moment the restaurant is like a world of enchantment with an extraordinary dining experience under the iconic Pegasus and dazzling Northern Light-inspired installation.

In partnership with Grey Goose, from October 11 to October 27 you can choose from four Northern Lights-inspired cocktails and one incredible dessert.

News Shopper:

I went with friends on a Friday night, where it was buzzy, vibey and had a really cool atmosphere.

We wanted to try the Northern Lights inspired menu – and it definitely did not disappoint.

The cocktails are called Aurora, Glow, Stargaze and Spectrum and I tried Aurora and Glow which were both sweet and fruity options.

Aurora has a sweet rhubarb base, and glow has an elderflower theme – and also comes in a glowing fluorescent blue colour.

They were both easy to drink and suitably alcoholic tasting while also not being too strong.

For starter from the main menu I had the tuna tartare, which is one of my absolute favourites. The raw fish was fresh, big in portion size and was deliciously paired with thin crackers.

For main course I had the miso black cod which I honestly think is something of dreams. I’ve had similar at The Ivy Asia before and it just melts in your mouth with a miso flavouring that suits the soft fish perfectly.

News Shopper:

My friends had the same on my recommendation and absolutely loved it. We paired it with a few side dishes including sticky rice, broccoli, zucchini fries and chips. The zucchini fries are a personal favourite.

Dessert was the star of the show – and the Northern Lights Grey Goose offering is called the Aurora Borealis.

It came in a glass dish – modelled like a plant – and was a Grey Goose vodka and blackberry compote with chocolate brownie, vanilla cream and pistachio praline.

Its plate was like a space ship and changed colour, making for one of those dishes that looks far too good to eat, but I did eat it, and I was glad I did.

News Shopper:

The flavours were so well paired, they complemented each other, and ideally it wasn’t too sickly so you could eat it all.

Brasserie of Light is one of my favourites and I’ll definitely be back there soon – especially when the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re under the Northern Lights.
