Four garages have been destroyed and three houses were damaged after a fire in Thamesmead.

Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters tackled the blaze in Gadwall Way at 6.55pm yesterday (October 9).

The brigade's 999 Control Officers almost took 30 calls to the fire.

A part of three terraced houses were damaged and four single-storey garages were destroyed by the fire.

No injuries were reported following the incident.

The fire was under control by 8.25pm.

Fire crews from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Bexley and Greenwich attended the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire involving a range of garages on Gadwall Way in Thamesmead. 

“Four single-storey garages were destroyed by fire and part of three terraced houses were also damaged by the blaze.

“There are currently no reports of any injuries.

“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took almost 30 calls to the fire.

“The Brigade was called at 1855 and the fire was under control by 2025.

“Fire crews from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Bexley, Greenwich and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
