We’ve rounded up the restaurants and cafes up to win at this year's Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards.

The Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards brings together the best of Lewisham’s businesses from visitor attractions to independent shops and cafes.

This year Lewisham Council received over 2,000 nominations for the awards for Lewisham residents' favourite local businesses.

There are 14 award categories with a total of 86 Lewisham businesses who are up to win.

The award ceremony is set to take place on October 15, with the winners to be revealed following votes received from the public.

This year, four restaurants and cafes have been named as finalists to win Best New Business, six cafes were named as finalists for the Best Cafe Award and seven restaurants were named as finalist for Best Restaurant Award.

The cafes and restaurants up for Best New Business Award

Amrutha

Based in Honor Oak, Amrutha is a plant-based restaurant that produces hearty Thai inspired vegan dishes, made with organic produce using ingredients sourced from local suppliers and businesses.

Break the Fast London

This Catford-based cafe serves a range of cosmopolitan breakfast and brunch dishes inspired by popular breakfast dishes from around the world.

The restaurant offers a range of sweet and savoury dishes including loaded biscoff stacks and banana bread French toast.

Klose & Soan

Klose & Soan offers diners a taste of the Mediterranean from the comfort of their Deptford-based restaurant.

The restaurant offers a cosy, relaxed setting, serving a seasonally changing menu made using seasonal and locally sourced produce.

Snuffle Dog Cafe

Snuffle Dog Cafe on Wells Park Road offers a dog-friendly space for dogs and their owners to unwind.

Visitors can bring their dogs for free to play whilst they are served food and drink, and the café also offers doggy day care for dog owners needing a dog sitting service.

Finalists for the Best Café Award

Corner

Based on New Cross Road, Corner is an LGBTQ+ led coffee shop and gallery space which can be found in Corners basement showcasing work from local artists.

The cafe serves coffee along with a range of baked goods and cakes.

Dolce Dessert and Cafe

Catford-based Dolce Desserts and Cafe has a range of sweet and savoury options from bagels and paninis to desserts and waffles, as well as its range of international coffee blends.

The cafe also caters for a range of dietary options serving vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Good As Gold

This speciality coffee shop offers a range of coffees as a cafe during the daytime, as well as a curated dinner menu in the evenings from 5:30pm-10:30pm.

Their dinner menu is made with seasonal produce and includes a range of European-inspired dishes paired with wines and cocktails, and also offers a vegan-friendly menu.

Maggie’s

First opened in 1983, Maggie’s is a family friendly cafe located in the heart of Lewisham serving traditional Irish dishes made with fresh ingredients.

Two Spoons

Two Spoons doubles up as both a relaxed daytime cafe serving a range of breakfast and brunch options, and a cocktail bar at night serving a range of vintage cocktails and crafted gin cocktails.

Two Spoons also hosts a weekly popup kitchen between Thursday and Saturday from 6pm to 9:30pm, serving dishes from around the world.

The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room serves artisan coffee, cakes and vegetarian-friendly dishes, and also offers an art space and book exchange.

They have a range of hot and cold dishes including bagels, burgers, fries and brunch rolls.

Finalists for Best Restaurant Award 

Babur

Babur in Forest Hill first opened its doors in 1985 serving gourmet and contemporary Indian dishes along with a large menu of crafted cocktails.

The restaurant also has a range of dining options including a Sunday buffet, tasting menu and seasonal menus for special occasions.

Bar Beach Grill

Bar Beach Grill serves a range of BBQ grill dishes and seafood, as well as a menu of exotic themed cocktails served at the bar.

Bella Roma

Lewisham-based Italian restaurant Bella Roma serves a range of classic Italian dishes from doze scoppiate to tiramisu and of course a selection of pizzas.

Fera

Hither Green-based Mediterranean grill and meze bar Fera serves a range of aromatic Mediterranean dishes, and caters to different dietary needs with a vegetarian and vegan menu.

Parlez 

Based in Brockley is a pub and restaurant offering an all-day breakfast menu and Indian dinner menu, along with a range of cocktails and wines.

La Pizzeria Italiana

First opened in 1986, Catford-based La Pizzeria Italiana offers a cosy setting serving a range of classic Italian dishes along with an authentic Italian wine list.

Vegan Flavours

Catford-based Vegan Flavours serves Caribbean plant-based dishes, along with a range of fresh juices and gluten-free baked goods.
