A Sainsbury’s has opened its doors in Deptford this week after undergoing two months of refurbishment.

Sainsbury’s Deptford Station Local will be open from 7am – 11pm every day of the week, after previously having been a Poundland.

The store will have a range of food, drinks, fruit, veg, kitchen cupboard essentials, snacks, stationary and homeware.

There will also be a bakery serving fresh bread and pastries everyday.

The new Sainsbury’s will offer a click and collect service for customers ordering from Argos, Habitat and Tu clothing and customers using Smartshop with a Nectar account can benefit from personalised discounts based on things they purchase the most.

Another addition to the supermarket will be a self-service Costa Coffee, letting customers pick up drinks on the go.

The colleagues that make up the new store team will play an active role in supporting local and nationwide charity and community initiatives.

This includes Sainsbury’s partnership with Neighbourly, through which Sainsbury’s Deptford Station Local will partner with local food donation charities to ensure surplus food from the store goes to those who need it most.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re delighted to have opened another Sainsbury’s Local in southeast London, putting our brilliant products and service on the doorstep of the thousands of shoppers who visit Deptford’s vibrant high street every week.

“We’re really pleased with our new store and it was great to see our customers queuing from early in the morning to try it for the first time on opening day.”

Tanvir Hussain, Sainsbury’s Deptford Station Local Store Manager, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has worked together to make our new store a success – we’re already off to a fantastic start.

“This is a proud moment for me and my new team and we’re looking forward to serving and helping our customers in Deptford for years to come.”
