Two arrests have been made as police investigate a suspicious firearm incident in Gravesend.

Police were called to the Pelham Road area at around 6am on Saturday, September 2 following reports of a man seen with a weapon.

A CCTV image of a man was issued by Kent Police as they searched.

Yesterday evening (Tuesday, September 5) armed police went to two different addresses in Gravesend and arrested a 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old man in connection.

They remain in custody and police enquiries continue.

Officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward by calling the appeal line on 01474 366149 and quoting reference 46/157727/23.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Detectives investigating a suspicious incident involving a possible firearm in Gravesend have arrested two people.

“Kent Police was called at 6.10am on Saturday 2 September 2023 to the Pelham Road area of town following a report a man had been seen in possession of a weapon.

“A CCTV image of a man was issued as part of the investigation and on the evening of Tuesday 5 September armed patrols attended two separate addresses in Gravesend and arrested a 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old man in connection with the incident.

“Both remain in custody as enquiries continue.

“Officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward by calling the appeal line on 01474 366149 and quoting reference 46/157727/23.
