Southeastern has added additional services travelling from south-east London to the Kent coast over the summer holidays – here’s everything you need to know.

Starting from today (July 24), passengers looking to travel to the beach this summer can now take advantage of services running to the East Kent coast from stations such as Lewisham, Blackheath and Charlton.

From July 24 until the first week of September additional services will be running at specific times on weekdays and weekends, taking customers from London into Kent.

Extra weekday trains will leave London Victoria each day at 9.22am, calling at a number of south east London stations and serving several popular Kent coastal towns such as Whitstable and Broadstairs.

Additional trains also leave London Cannon Street at the weekend, with direct return journeys at the end of the day.

Southeastern has also added more seaside trains at weekends from London Victoria, running every half an hour, until Friday September 1.

Additional services will also run from London Bridge at weekends.

On weekdays from July 24 – September 1

Southeastern will be running an additional service from London Victoria to Ramsgate, departing at 9.22am.

The service will call at the south east London stations of Lewisham, Blackheath and Charlton, and all stations to Dartford via Woolwich Arsenal.

The service will also call at Greenhithe, Gravesend, Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham and Faversham.

Finally the service will call at the coastal towns of Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.

There will also be several trains in return directions.

On Saturdays until September 2

Two additional services from London Cannon Street to Ramsgate will be added, departing at 8.25am and 9.25am.

The service will call at London Bridge, Lewisham, Blackheath, Charlton and all stations to Dartford.

The service will also call at the Kent stations of Greenhithe, Gravesend, Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham and Faversham, finally calling at Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate and Broadstairs.

Two additional services will also run from Ramsgate to London Cannon Street at 4.44pm and 5.44pm, operating a return service.

On Sundays until September 3

An additional service will run from Cannon Street to Ramsgate at 9.28am, calling at London Bridge, Lewisham, Blackheath and Charlton and all stations to Dartford via Woolwich Arsenal.

The service will then call at the Kent stations of Greenhithe, Gravesend, Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate and Broadstairs.

A return service from Ramsgate to London Cannon Street will also be added, departing at 5.45pm.

Southeastern’s station manager for Margate, Edward Goddard, said: “With so many fantastic beaches and seaside destinations on our doorstep we’re pleased once again to have been able to add extra trains over the summer holidays to help our customers get to the coast.

“It means many people won’t have to change trains but can hop on a train from a station close to them, sit back and looked forward to being the first to see the sea.

“What’s more, travelling by train is a lot less stressful than driving, with no traffic jams on the busy coastal roads and no searching for parking spaces – which means it’s better for the environment too.”
