The Big Day Out is set to return to Dartford next weekend, bringing the entire town together for a spectacular festival of entertainment where families “don’t have to spend a penny”.

Dartford Council says that the aim is to create a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone can have a great day without worrying about the cost.

On Saturday, July 15, Central Park will be transformed into a hub of activity, with live music, a steam rally, giveaways, and more – no tickets required.

One of the headline acts will be singer Tom Ball, fresh from his success on America's Got Talent.

Visitors can also look forward to tribute bands Badness & Wannabe, as well as live local music from The Soundcasters and fusion drummers Kings of Dhol.

The steam rally is expected be a popular attraction, with a wide range of vintage vehicles on display for families to enjoy.

The Kids Zone at the Outdoor Theatre will offer fully inclusive play, and there will be giveaways and roaming entertainment from Cohesion Plus.

In an exciting addition to this year's event, Dartford Borough Council has extended the festivities into Sunday.

On July 16, families are invited to attend the Big Chill Out, a more relaxed day in the park where attendees can enjoy picnics on the grass or visit one of the bars and food stalls.

The noisy attractions from Saturday will make way for a more laid-back event.

Kids can enjoy free rides on the heritage Gallopers (Merry-go-round) ride all weekend, while Sunday's main stage will feature chilled-out performances.

Leader of the Council Jeremy Kite MBE said: “We can’t wait for the Big Day Out to return. People seem to like the new community focus of the event and the fact that so much more is free.

“We’ve made it an event for all the family to enjoy without worrying about how much everything is going to cost.

“A family can spend a great day here and not spend a single penny if they choose. It creates a really nice atmosphere.

“We’ve also planned a much more relaxed day on Sunday to encourage everybody to enjoy our wonderful park.

“Bring a picnic or visit the bar and food stalls and have a brilliant, easy-going afternoon in the park with some nice music in the background.

“There are rides for kids and all the park’s usual attractions are open.

“The whole weekend is free to everyone and you don’t need a ticket. I can’t wait to see everyone there.”
