Two twin girls from south London have pleaded guilty to making false allegations of rape.

The twin sisters cannot be named because they are just 17-years-old.

They appeared at a magistrates’ court in south London where they both entered guilty pleas to committing an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

Sentencing the pair, magistrates referred them to a youth offender panel for 12 months.

These are panels where local people work with young people to help them take responsibility for their actions and to change their behaviour.
