The roof of a home in Welling has been damaged by a fire after it is believed it was hit by a lightning strike this morning.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended the blaze in Sidmouth Road at 7.40am today (June 20).
People living in the home fled the address before the brigade arrived and nobody was injured in the incident.
London Fire Brigades control officers took seven calls about the blaze.
Crews from Plumstead, Greenwich and Bexley brought the fire under control by 8.57am.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire on Sidmouth Road in Welling.
“The roof of a semi-detached house was partially damaged by fire.
“The Brigade's 999 control officers took seven calls reporting the fire.
“Residents left the building before crews arrived and there are no reports of any injuries.
“The first call was received at 7.40am and the fire was under control by 8.57am.
“Crews from Plumstead, Greenwich and Bexley attended the incident.
“It is believed the fire may have been started by lightning striking the roof.”
