A Bexley micro pub which used to be a laundrette is cleverly named after the couple that lovingly run the venue.

The Silver Fox Micro Pub is located in Montpelier Avenue and the owners, Niki Frost (Silver) and Simon Fox (Fox) own the establishment together.

Niki and Simon's dream was to “create a place where people felt comfortable to make friends and have good conversations”.

They strive for that more personal touch and say that they know all their regulars by name.

The building itself has a unique history as it was previously the Montpelier Launderette, but Simon, who used to work as a builder for 25 years, transformed it into a comfortable and welcoming pub.

The pub was supposed to open in April 2020, but due to the pandemic, they had to push the opening back until July 2020.

They used the extra months to make the pub beautiful and comfortable, doing all the work themselves, except for the electrical goods, stools and chairs.

The pub is open every day except for Monday (as this is Niki and Simon’s date night day) and it always shuts at 10pm.

The venue is also dog-friendly, and they offer gravy bones and water for their furry friends.

Niki and Simon explained that their pub aims to cater to all clientele and offers cocktails, spirits, wines, shots, and Prosecco – often being told that their Porn Star Martini is the best.

The pub also sells its own creatively designed beverages – including a shot called Silver Fox which is like a pudding, layers of chocolate, baileys and toffee vodka.

The Screaming Fox and the Summer Spritz are vibrant cocktails that they have conjured together.

They also offer a range of ales, ciders, and lagers, and they try to offer a lager that no other pub offers something different to the community.

Many of these drinks are often sourced from Bexley Brewery or Kent Brewery.

Simon and Niki explained that they try and keep their prices low.

The pair added: “We are making a profit, but it has never been about making a quick buck, as the saying goes.”

Every Thursday from 4pm till 8pm the Silver Fox discounts all of their drinks “as a way of giving back to our customers".

They also sell local artists' paintings and offer entertainment events, such as race nights, stand-up comedy nights, and musical bingo nights.

The Silver Fox has a monthly quiz night, and all the proceeds go to Hurst Primary Schools' Parents Association charity.

The Silver Fox also offers out complimentary cheese and cracker boards every Sunday, which has become quite the hit among their customers as “Who doesn't like cheese with their drink? Especially when it's for free!”

They have been awarded the number one pub in Bexley for the Best Pub and Recommended by restaurantguru.com and understand that the venue has been nominated by some of their customers for the Community Hero award for the British Pub Awards for 2023.

Since opening in July 2020, they have raised over £4000 for their charity of choice - the Hurst Primary Schools' Parents Association.

In November 2021 Mayor James Hunt attended The Silver Fox to hand over a cheque to Hurst Primary Schools' PA after the venue raised money for the charity – and this was featured in the News Shopper.
