A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in his arm in Woolwich.

Police were called to reports of a group carrying knives in Woolwich Town Centre at around 8.40pm today (May 27).

A boy was found in Major Draper Street with a stab injury to his arm.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is currently unknown.

A short time later, two males were arrested on a bus in Bexleyheath Broadway, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

They were taken into police custody.

Crime scenes have been put in place following the incident.

A section 60 has been authorised in the Woolwich Town Centre until 8.50am  tomorrow (May 28).

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Woolwich town centre at 20.38hrs on Saturday, 27 May to reports of a group of people carrying knives.

“Officers attended. A male teenager was found in Major Draper Street, SE18, with a stab injury to his arm.

"He has been taken to hospital.

“We await an update on his condition.

“A short time later, two males were arrested on a bus in Broadway, Bexleyheath on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

“They have been taken into custody. A large knife has been recovered from the bus.

“Crime scenes have been put in place in the area.

“A section 60 has been authorised in the Woolwich town centre area until 08.50hrs on 28 May.”
