A shopping centre in Bromley has placed a ban on children aged under 16 entering without an adult.

The Glades shopping centre confirmed that kids visiting the site today (May 26) must be accompanied by an adult.

This is due to disruptions experienced in March following early school closures for the Easter holidays.

Five youths were arrested after four police officers were injured during a dispersal just after 3pm on March 31.

At the time, a large group of youths were behaving in an anti-social manner and refused to leave the site.

During the dispersal, four officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Five youths were arrested on suspicion of assault on police and affray, and one was arrested on suspicion of breaching a dispersal order.

The Glades is now working closely with the Bromley Safer School Policing Team on a number of measures to alleviate any concerns.

It clarified that all entry and exit points at the venue in Bromley High Street will be open and managed as normal.

No face coverings are also permitted to be worn whilst visiting the Glades.

The full statement from The Glades says: “Due to the disruptions experienced last month at The Glades following early school closures for the Easter holidays, we are working closely with the Bromley Safer School Policing Team on a number of measures to alleviate any concerns this Friday.

“When schools close for the half term holiday on Friday 26th May, we ask that any students/children under the age of 16 who plan to visit The Glades on this day are accompanied by an adult or guardian.

“Please note, as always, no face coverings are permitted to be worn whilst visiting The Glades.

“We have been made aware of some information that has been circulated on social media that is incorrect and would like to clarify that all entry and exit points at The Glades will be open and managed as normal.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and staff is our top priority, and we thank you for your cooperation.”
