Many people will be looking to travel into central London for the coronation of King Charles III this week, using Southeastern services.

Southeastern has said that there will be some amendments made to its services on the day of the coronation, with additional services running between Dartford and Charing Cross.

There will also be some alterations to services on Sunday due to engineering works.

Here’s everything you need to know if you're planning on travelling by train this weekend.

Saturday, May 6  

 

On Saturday the coronation of King Charles III is set to take place in Westminster Abbey.

Southeastern will be running a normal Saturday service, with additional services between Dartford and Charing Cross, and longer trains on selected services.

Southeastern has said it will be running an extra service between Dartford and Charing Cross via Bexleyheath, which will call at Lewisham, London Bridge and Waterloo East.

These trains will run from 7.44am until 10.44pm from Dartford to Charing Cross, and from 8.49am until 11.49pm between Charing Cross and Dartford, and will be made up of either 10 or 12 carriage trains.

Longer trains will also be running on the Maidstone East Line and on services between Victoria and Gillingham.

Sunday, May 7  

 

On Sunday engineering work will be taking place between Sole Street, Strood and Rainham, and in the Tonbridge area, meaning some line closures.

Trains will be running at 16 and 46 minutes past the hour from Charing Cross to Sevenoaks instead of Hastings, and at the same times past each hour returning from Sevenoaks to Charing Cross, and will be made up of 10 carriages.

Victoria to Ashford via Maidstone services will be running with eight carriages for most of the day on Sunday.

Chatham Main Line services will be terminating at Sole Street, and will run as eight-car trains until the end of service.

Services between Charing Cross to Ashford will be diverted via Maidstone, with one train per hour, and will be made up of eight carriages.

 

Monday , May 8 

 

On Monday Southeastern has said that a Saturday service will run on “all lines.”
