Recently there has been rise in conversation about is ai ( Artificial Intelligence) a thing we want to see in the future and whether this will have a positive or negative impact and if limits should he set. However unbeknown to some it is something which has been since 1970s onwards in the Uk, such as in supermarket self check outs, and in more data heavy industries. However we are now seeing it spread to all areas in society which some would debate is a problem. Short term we can use ai for as a tool to help us but long term cause is humans may not be able to compete.

In the creative industry ai has been used for modelling clothing on websites, replacing traditional art and much more. An example of this is Fast Fashion Companies have began turning to ai for completion of tasks which were previously done by humans. They “Employ” ai robots to model clothes on their websites, pack requested package orders and customers can even pick up their orders through them.

Some of the companies say its is beneficial to customer experience on their websites by giving them a catered experience, however I beg to differ.

With the uprise of ai employment this means the decrease of employment for humans before the existence of ai and robots a human was doing that job so why change this? For commercial models in the fashion industry there is already a high demand for jobs but with their new competitor, jobs for humans will begin to decline. Not only this Models of colour, Disabilities are statistically less likely to be approved for work and with the new ai some companies are creating/designing their own “perfect model” for the role. Having human models and representation for people is necessary.

For this reason and many others ai is problematic for the future if no limits are set.
