Residents are being invited to nominate their favourite shops in Bromley for a competition which looks to find the decorated window display in celebration of the King's Coronation.

Submissions are now open and businesses across the borough are being reminded by Bromley Council to get their shop front displays in place well ahead of the Coronation, so that residents can send in their photo nominations by May 2 at 5pm.

Residents who would like to nominate a shop should take a photo of their display and submit it online at www.bromley.gov.uk/Coronation.

The Mayor of Bromley will be judging the displays and will announce the winner at the start of the Coronation Bank Holiday, with celebrations running in Bromley from 6 May to 8 May.

The winning shop will receive a £100 gift voucher generously donated by The Glades.

There is also another prize for the members of the public as the council will be awarding a £50 voucher to the best photograph submitted.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “I hope businesses will take this opportunity to contribute to the festive spirit in the borough and we will see many colourful and creative displays across all our parades and high streets.

“I would encourage residents to reward these efforts by nominating your favourite regal shop fronts – which may just land you with a chance to be celebrated as a photographer!

“This is just the latest of our Coronation plans to help build up enthusiasm locally and celebrate this historic occasion."

The council will also be decorating for the Coronation celebrations as the borough’s high streets have also been allocated £20,000 to support Coronation decorations, which is being organised by the borough’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
