Police have found a “large knife” in the backpack of a male following a search prompted by a shop worker refusing to sell vapes in Bromley.

Officers were called to a mobile phone shop on Bromley High Street after a shop worker refused to sell vapes to three males and he alleged a knife had been seen.

Response officers arrived at the scene and police say that a large group ran away.

However, officer PC O’Donoghue saw a male heading in her direction and she detained him for a search.

A “large knife” was allegedly found in the male’s backpack.

Police say the male was “not connected” to the call.

The male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a point and bladed article and was given bail to return for a Youth Offending Teams referral.

The full statement tweeted by Bromley Town Centre Police read: “Last week officers attended a call to a mobile phone store on the high street, shop worker refused to sell vapes to three males and a knife was seen.
