Lidl has opened a brand-new supermarket in Mottingham – and here is a sneak peek into its interior.

The new store on Mottingham Road welcomed customers for the first time yesterday (April 13) and will be open between 8am – 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.

The new store will create around 40 jobs for the local community, with Lidl reporting that “new starters are amongst the highest paid in the supermarket sector following the discounter’s wage increases last month”.

This large store will feature an in-store bakery and pictures show a plentiful fruit and vegetables section along, fresh flowers available at the entrance as well as rows of self-checkout services.

Lidl GB says it recently won over a dozen Good Housekeeping Institute taste tests, including items from its Easter range, such as the Deluxe Luxury Apple Hot Cross Buns, Deluxe West Country Lamb Leg and Deluxe Triple Chocolate Easter Egg.

The company was also recently named the fastest growing supermarket in the UK, with sales rising by an annual rate of 25.8 per cent, pushing its market share to 7.4 per cent.

Independent analysis conducted by The Grocer of shopping lists across the nation, from fresh produce to branded items, found Lidl GB was £24.82 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket.
