With King Charles III’s coronation quickly approaching, many people are preparing to host street parties to celebrate the historic occasion.
Lewisham Council has released a list of the roads which have plans in place to close and host street parties in early May.
These closures are listed below, alongside the date that the closure will take place.
Queensthorpe Road Sydenham SE26 – May 6
Earlsthorpe Road to Bishopsthorpe Road.
Coniston Rod BR1 4JG – May 7
Ashgrove Road to Hillbrow Road.
Cranfield Road SE4 1UF – May 7
From the junction of Wickham Road to Garsington Mews.
Grierson Road SE23 1NX – May 7
From house numbers 110 to 164.
Ardgowan Road, SE61AJ – May 7
Hither Green Lane to St Mildred's Road.
Foxberry Road SE4 2SR – May 7
From the junction of Foxberry Road and Coulgate Street to approximately 35 Foxberry Road.
Wrenthorpe Road BR1 5QJ – May 7
From the junction with Downderry Road to the junction with Shroffold Road.
49 Calmont Road to 75 Calmont Road BR1 4BY – May 7
The council will be closing from 49 Calmont road (the corner of Belgravia gardens) to 75 Calmont road (the corner of Hillbrow road).
Lucas street SE8 4QH – May 6
From just below the crossroads at Thornville Street and Lucas Street (by the railway meadow) to the bottom of Lucas Street, just before it reaches Albyn Road.
Sunnydene Street SE26 4ER – May 7
Highclere to Sunnydene.
Stillness Road SE23 1NG – May 7
Codrington to Brockley Rise.
Somerset Gardens SE13 7SY – May 6
Somerset Gardens is a loop and the council proposes to use the section of the street that is furthest away from the junction with the main road, Loampit Hill.
Ewelme Road SE23 3BQ – May 7
Honor Oak Road to Devonshire Road.
Neuchatel Road, SE6 4EQ – May 6
The whole road will close.
Garlies Road SE232RU – May 7
The whole road will close.
Gillian Street SE13 – May 7
The whole road will close.
Ermine Road SE13 – May 7
Brookbank to Ellerdale.
Casslee Road SE6 – May 7
Montacute Road to Polsted Road.
Springrice Road SE13 6HR – May 8
Springrice Road will close from outside number 2 to outside number 40.
Wellmeadow Road SE13 – May 8
Duncrievie Rd to Torridon Road.
Wellmeadow Road SE6 – May 7
Dowanhill Rd to Hazelbank Road
Rayford Ave SE12 0NG – May 8
The whole road will close.
Milborough Crescent SE12 0RP – May 7
Closure of the Crescent from 57 -101.
Francemary Road SE4 1JR and SE4 1JS – May 7
The whole road will close.
Ashwater Road SE12 0LB – May 6
The junction of Burnt Ash Hill and the junction of Baring Road will close.
Florence Road SE14 6QL – May 6
The junction of Heald Street and Florence Road, the junction of Lewisham Way and Florence Road and the junction from Alpha Road to Florence Road will close.
Upwood Road From Leyland Road to Cambridge Drive SE12 8AD – May 7
The council will be closing Upwood road from Leyland Road section to Cambridge Drive.
Leyland road and Cambridge drive are kept open to drive through.
Kneller road SE4 – May 8
The road will close from house number 1A to house number 13 Kneller road.
3c Cranfield Road Brockley – May 6
Outside 3c Cranfield Road will close.
Glenfarg Road SE6 1XW - SE6 1XJ – May 8
Glenfarg Road runs from Torridon Road to St Fillan's Road, with no other intersections.
If it is problematic to close the entire road, the council has said that they could open the road at the start of the SE6 1XN postcode as you travel from Torridon to St Fillans (travelling from east to west).
Deptford High Street – May 8
The whole road will close.
Gaynesford Road SE23 2UQ – May 7
This road will close from the junction of Gaynesford Road with Sunderland Road to the east, up to between 11 and 13 to the west.
This is the same section we have every year since 2009, when Covid-19 permitted.
Breakspears Road Brockley SE4 1SX (a small section of the road) – May 7
From Glensdale Road to Harefield Road.
The council has said: “For example 10 houses on each side of the road in-between these 2 roads.”
27 Charleville Circus SE26 – May 6
The council plans to close off part of junction entering from Crystal Palace Park Road.
Westwood Park SE23 – May 8
Between Langton Rise and Ringmore Rise will close, leaving access clear to both.
Chudleigh Road (not the whole road) – May 7
From the junction of Chudleigh Road with Brockley Grove, to the roundabout at the junction with Bexhill Road will close meaning that the roundabout would still be in use.
This is a completely straight section of road.
Cranfield Road (on the side of St Peters Church) – May 7
The whole road will close.
Dartmouth Grove SE10 – May 7
The whole road will close.
Marsala Road, SE13 – May 7
From number 85 Marsala Road to 105 Marsala Road will close.
Cambridge Drive SE12 – May 7
Cambridge Drive will close from its junction with Dorveille Road to the end of Cambridge Drive at its junction with Upwood Road.
Revelon Road SE4 – May 7
The current plan is to block the whole street.
Ticehurst road SE23 – May 6
From no. 50 to the end of no. 22
Pitfold Road SE12 – May 7
The road will close from house numbers 64/45 and 82/63.
Girton Road SE26 – May 7
The road will close from house no. 4 to no. 52.
Somertrees Avenue – May 8
Somertrees Avenue from junction of Somertrees avenue and Le May Avenue, to the junction of Somertrees Avenue and Balder Rise, outside 23 Somertrees Avenue.
Island Road SE16 – May 7
Island Road will close from the junction of Island Road and Regeneration Road/Leather Road to the junction of Island Road and Alpine Road.
This road is straight.
This is not a main road, it is not a bus route, and it is not an emergency services route.
Engleheart Road SE6 – May 7
The junction of Plassey Road and Engleheart Road to junction of Engleheart Road and Jutland Road.
