AN MP says the borough has "been ignored by the Government" after a final decision on the Dartford Crossing discount scheme.
David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, expressed his disappointment after minister of state for transport, Rosie Winterton, confirmed in the house of commons that "the scheme should be implemented as proposed".
The decision means Bexley residents have not qualified for a discount where drivers are allowed 50 free journeys across the river for an annual fee of £10.
Speaking after the decision on June 13, Mr Evennett said: "I believe the decision is unfair and ill-considered. Bexley has once again been ignored by the Government.
"I campaigned for our borough to be included in the scheme as some Bexley residents live closer to the crossing than some Dartford and Thurrock residents."
The scheme is expected to be implemented in the autumn.
