WHEN a nursing home for the elderly celebrated its 10th birthday, there were three special guests at the party.
Two of them were Bexley's new deputy mayor and mayoress Councillor Ray Sams and his wife Diane.
The third was Irene Nelson, a long-time resident at Marlborough Court, Copperfield Road, Thamesmead.
Mrs Nelson, 95, who moved in a month after the home opened, was presented with flowers by the deputy mayor.
Despite plans for an al fresco celebration being rained off, residents enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment from singer and comedian Jeff Dukes and a buffet organised by the home's activity organiser Sarah Fiddler and housekeeper Nins Deol.
