ON SATURDAY, May 24, president of the Orpington Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association Group Captain John Digman OBE, DFC, RAF Ret'd presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Andrew Evans, Director of Ruxley Manor Garden Centre.
The presentation was in recognition of the centre having allowed Orpington RAFA to collect for its annual Battle of Britain Wings Appeal on the garden centres premises.
Over the past few years customers of the garden centre have donated many thousands of pounds towards the welfare needs of veterans and serving members of the air forces of the United Kingdom and their close relatives.
In accepting the certificate, Mr Evans said he was delighted to welcome the RAFA to its premises each year and was pleased to be able to help a very worthwhile cause.
The Orpington Branch of the RAFA meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 7.30pm onwards at the Royal British Legion Hall, Church Hill, Orpington, and new members are always welcome.
