Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society on March 19.

It origins in the 16th century custom of ‘Mothering Sunday’, which fell on the fourth Sunday of Lent.

If you and your mum are sick to death of the flowers and boring afternoon teas – we have a list of things that you can do instead in south east London.

As every mum is different, we tried to put a real mix on our list with everything from spa treatments to literature festivals – so take a look and make that special day something magical.
