POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a man they want to speak to in connection with a violent assault last month.

The appeal by Bexley police follows an incident at the Sidcup Working Men's Club on May 9.

A 43-year-old man was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack inside the club in Main Road at around 10.45pm.

The victim suffered an eye injury, a fractured cheekbone and a broken ankle.

Police want to talk to 37-year-old Stuart Wassell, from Penge, who is 6ft tall and has a slim build.

He is known to visit the Sidcup, Penge, Bromley and South Norwood areas.

Police are advising people not to approach Mr Wassell, but to contact them.
