YOUNG volunteers are being called on to work on the capital's waterways.
Environmental charity Thames21 hopes to get more than 2,500 volunteers aged 16 to 25 working on London's neglected rivers and canals over the next three years.
They will be trained and supported by charity staff to become Waterway Champions, helping to keep rivers and canals clean in their area.
The £266,251 project been funded by v, a youth volunteering charity.
Its chief executive, Debbie Leach, said: "The full involvement of young people will benefit communities by improving the physical environment on London's waterways."
