A SUMMER school for students with learning disabilities has been awarded a £10,000 grant.
The scheme run by charity Bromley Mencap is seen as a lifeline to the 36 families involved and for many it is the only respite they will get.
It runs for six weeks during the summer holidays to provide activities for people aged from 16 to 23 with learning disabilities.
Money was awarded by the Jack Petchey Foundation, which helps projects and programmes which support young people aged between 11 and 25.
The foundation plans to give further grants of £10,000 next year and in 2010.
Bromley Mencap spokesman Eddie Lynch said: "It is a fantastic opportunity for people with learning disabilities to come together."
