A school in Beckenham will be accepting donations of essential items to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey.

Fazil Kucuk Turkish school, located inside Harris Girls' Academy, in Lennard Road, has appealed for items to be donated on February 11.

More than 10,000 people have been killed after two devastating earthquakes on February 6.

Many survivors are without a home in freezing temperatures as low as -5 Celsius.

The Turkish school is accepting donations of new clothing, blankets, nappies, toiletries, scarves, and gloves to help with the aid appeal.

Anyone who to wants to drop off items at the school can do so between 10am and 6pm.

It will then prepare all donations ready for transit after Saturday.

The full statement on the Fazil Kucuk Turkish school Facebook page reads: “We will be preparing all donations at Dr Fazil Kucuk Turkish School ready for transit to Turkiye.

“There is a lot of information out there on what is immediately required, however, the requirements of those in need are constantly changing.

“We kindly request you take note of what is required, as this will save us crucial time in sorting and packing the items.

“Anyone who would like to help with the sorting & packaging process, we kindly request you to make yourself known to a member of staff on Saturday from 10am.

“We have extended the school hours until 6pm & will be accepting all donations from 10am at our address below.

“Dr Fazil Kucuk Turkish School, Harris Girls Academy Bromley, Lennard Road, Beckenham, BR3 1QR.”
