IT WAS strawberries and cream all round as Kent Association for the Blind (KAB) celebrated Volunteers' Week by hosting a cream tea for its Bexley volunteers.

Held in Bowes Close residential home in Blackfen, 34 volunteers tucked into their thank-you treat.

The volunteers help with a variety of work some at the KAB social clubs, and others with KAB's one-to-one befriending service where tasks include helping with reading and correspondence and shopping trips.

KAB organiser Vivien Howie said: "Our volunteers are absolutely invaluable.

"They are our eyes and ears because they see so many visually impaired people which would be impossible for our team to visit, and they can let us know if there is something wrong."
